FULL-LOTUS PILOT SHARES RIGGING INFORMATION Summer 2018
Jeff Moores is a long-time pilot and aircraft builder who started on a Merlin ultralight and now flies a self-built Zenair CH 750 Cruzer. Both his aircraft were equipped with Full Lotus floats. In this series of articles, Jeff shares his knowledge and experience installing float on his aircraft.
GETTING READY FOR THE 2017 FLYING SEASON? February 2017
Every year, a number of excited would-be floatplane owners/pilots miss out on the Spring and Summer flying seasons due to insufficient planning. In reality, it takes a while from the moment you decide to install floats on your plane until you are ready for your first water take-off! The floats need to be ordered, made and shipped, the rigging has to be figured out and the installation has to be completed - all before the first flight! Not a problem for those who plan ahead - and the rewards are amazing! See here for a new Pilot Report from SEAPLANEMAGAZINE.COM.

TWO MORE SIZES OF FULL-LOTUS AMPHIBIOUS FLOATS Summer 2016
Full-Lotus now offers AMPHIBIOUS floats in three different sizes: 1260A, 1450A and 1650A! All models feature four wheels, with electrically actuated retracting mechanism. Effective hydraulic brakes are standard and free-castering nose-wheels make steering a breeze with differential braking. All models feature sturdy wheels for rugged terrain; main wheels retract inside the floats behind the step while nose wheels pivot forward. Click here for more details.
NEW FULL-LOTUS AMPHIBIOUS FLOATS NOW AVAILABLE April 2014
After close to a year of development and testing, Aircraft Floats Manufacturing (AFM) has started production of its new Amphibious Float design with integrated main wheels. The new floats are based on the Light-Sport-compatible FL1450 inflatable floats by Full-Lotus and offer large-sized main wheels that extend electrically from within the body of the floats for hard surface operations. Aircraft equipped with these new floats can now operate off water, ice and snow as well as grass, dirt and pavement.

Although heavier than traditional aluminum aircraft floats, these new inflatable floats offer greater versatility, including the ability to beach on rocky shores and to operate from very shallow waters, including mixtures of water, slush and/or ice. Another advantage of Full-Lotus floats is their cushioning effect which help mitigate the effects of hard water-ladings and/or choppy waters. These floats are "built tough" to withstand the harsh conditions often encountered in "bush-flying"; rigging for these new floats is the same as for the traditional straight floats from Full-Lotus.

NEW FLOAT FITTINGS FOR KITFOX January 2013
Aircraft Floats Manufacturing (AFM) is now offering new float fittings developed specifically for the Kitfox aircraft design. These CNC machined parts are made of light-weight aluminum and are designed to fit standard Kitfox landing-gear brackets; they then perfectly match the stream-lined struts provided with AFM’s standard float rigging kits. |
AFM's generic float rigging kits include streamlined spreader bars and struts with bottom fittings and hardware for installing floats on most ultralights and Experimental aircraft (750 to 2500lbs). The rigging kits are intended for the full range of Full-Lotus floats, but do not include top fitting for joining struts to fuselage. These newly available fittings (see pictures below) now make it quick and easy for Kitfox owners to install both straight or amphibious 1450 floats on their aircraft.
To order the fittings separately, please complete an AFM order form and return it by Fax or e-mail. Fittings can also be ordered along with a complete Rigging Kit and/or with the floats. Make sure to specify part numbers and quantities. For more information, call 750-526-4537.
FULL-LOTUS FLOATS MAKE GREAT SKIS! December 2012
Full-Lotus inflatable aircraft floats are known for their rugged construction and versatility; Winter flyers also find them well adapted for snow, slush, and ice conditions. Unlike skis, the wide footprint and weight distribution of full-lotus floats prevents the aircraft from sinking in powdered snow or from breaking through thin ice! Even if there is water, the floats are in their element. Video…
FULL-LOTUS ONCE AGAIN AT OSHKOSH! July 2012
For many years, Full-Lotus floats were not actively represented at major trade shows like AirVenture, Sun'n Fun, Sebring, etc. This is changing under new management by Aircraft Floats Manufacturing. As a first step, Full-Lotus floats had a highly visible presence at Oshkosh this year, both at the LSA mall as well as in the outdoor north exhibit area (booth 640). AFM staff was on hand to meet interested aircraft owners and to answer questions; also on display were the new 5" streamlined spreader bars now available from AFM for rigging purposes. For more details, contact us at [email protected]

FULL-LOTUS FLOATS CHANGES OWNERSHIP AND MOVES! June 2012
From 2002 onward, Full Lotus Manufacturing was owned and operated by the Holomis family, pioneers in the Canadian ultralight industry based in Vernon, B.C. Canada. This all changed in June 2012 when the design rights, inventory and all production tooling for the Full-Lotus float line were acquired by Aircraft Floats Manufacturing, Ltd.
Aircraft Floats Manufacturing, Ltd. (AFM) will continue producing the standard line of Full-Lotus floats; The company has already begun deliveries of new floats as well as replacement parts for maintenance and repairs for existing owners. AFM will soon start introducing type-specific rigging for Full-Lotus floats on a variety of popular aircraft designs, something that had not been offered by Full-Lotus before.
AFM’s new production facilities are located on the Huronia Airport (CYEE) in Midland, Ontario, right next to Zenair Limited, the well-known kit aircraft manufacturer. AFM will also be taking over the Zenair Floats brand as part of its mission to offer comprehensive non-certified float solutions for a full range of ultralights, light-sport and amateur-built aircraft.
The new company intends to consolidate engineering wherever possible and already has plans to improve the Full-Lotus amphibious system using Zenair technology; floatplane pilots everywhere will benefit as these two leading brands of aircraft floats are now brought together under one roof.
For more information on AFM and its float offerings, you can visit www.myfloats.com or call 705-526-4537. The company can be reached by e-mail at [email protected].
