Floats Used to Save Lives
I would like to take a few moments of your time to say thank you. Your floats saved my life and the lives of my passengers.
I am a commercial pilot with 20 years and over 4,000 hours of flying time in various makes and models of aircraft, from small single engine aircraft to corporate jets. On May 19, 1997 my wife and I were flying our small float plane, which is equipped with a pair of your 14’ floats. At about 7:30 p.m. we crashed into the Florida Bay. The airplane immediately turned over submerging the cabin. My wife and I got out and swam to the surface. We used the floats as a life raft until help arrived.
The next day, after our release from the hospital, we examined the wreckage of our airplane. We were amazed to see that although the attaching hardware was destroyed, your Full Lotus floats had received only minor damage. I am convinced that the floats absorbed most of the energy of the impact and spared our lives. During the crash, I had broken my left leg and six ribs. Had the floats not been there to hang onto until help arrived, I would not be here today to tell this story.
There was one good thing that came out of the crash. We found out that my wife was pregnant. We are expecting a little girl and to fly our rebuilt airplane for Christmas.
Thanks again,
